Visitation Rules

Visitations at the County Jail are currently held via video conferencing due to precautionary steps. Visitors are required to schedule an appointment at least 24 hours in advance. Each inmate is entitled to two visitations per week, each lasting up to 45 minutes. It’s important to be timely as late arrival may result in the cancellation of the visitation.

All visitors must present a valid ID and minors must be escorted by an adult. Dress appropriately, as inappropriate clothing may lead to the denial of visitation rights. Remember, all visitations at Central Maine Pre-Release Center are observed and recorded.

Inmate Mailing Rules

Mailing detainees is allowed. Send letters to Box 8, Hallowell, ME, 04347, including the inmate’s name and ID number. Ensure to only send paper contents, as items like packages, polaroid pictures, and any form of banned goods will be returned or discarded. Mail is delivered to detainees within 24 hours of receipt, excluding weekends and holidays. All mail is inspected for safety purposes.

They can call collect, or they can use funds from their commissary account to pay for telephonic conversations. The commissary at County correction facility provides offenders with a variety of items, including toiletries, snacks, stationery, and clothing. Funds can be added to the offender’s commissary account via the website or at a kiosk in the detention facility lobby. The commissary delivery happens once a week, and the offenders are allowed to spend up to $140 per week.
